Pakistan: A Success story of a Pakistani Trans-Rights Transgender, Nayyab Ali.

Forced to leave her home when she was only 13 years old, physically and sexually abused in her childhood, and later attacked with acid as a result of advocating for her transgender friend who was a victim of a rape, Nayyab Ali’s life as a Transgender women in Pakistan has been turbulent, but she is using her struggle to inspire others.

Nayyab Ali is an internationally renowned Transgender Rights activist, Pakistani human rights defender, author, researcher, and capacity building engineer with 10 years of experience working on gender equality, livelihoods, economic empowerment and social inclusion. As an independent consultant, she has worked with UN agencies to advocate Transgender Rights.

Nayyab Ali received the Franco-German prize for Human Rights and Rule of Law in December 2020. She is also a Laureate of Galas International Activist Award 2020 and a recipient of the APCOM Transgender HERO Asia Award.

As a fierce advocate for Transgender Rights in Pakistan, Nayyab Ali has made many notable contributions to the movement, include helping draft the Transgender Rights Protection Act 2018, and drafting Police Guidelines and Transgender Welfare Policy.
